Gente de I'itoi

Community Development

Previous projects include cooperation with the Municipality of Magdalena for the Kino Festival in October and the Indigenous Festival in May. Indigenous were recruited, housed, and feed by Gente de I’itoi, A.C. for participation in both festivals.

Yoreme / Mayo artisans have sold traditional crafts and Yoeme / Yaqui dancers have participated. The Municipality of Navajoa, Sonora, assisted with transportation of Mayo in years past.  A Comcaac / Seri participated in a TB prevention video.

The presence of Tohono O’odham who come to the Kino Festival on their religious pilgrimage also help generate business for local vendors. They are provided with a food stand organized by Gente De I’itoi, A.C. Vice President, Maria Garcia
